Two arrests made

Dowagiac Police Chief Tom Aktinson reports that his officers arrested two Dowagiac residents on several warrants early Saturday morning, Feb. 19, at approximately 2:30 a.m.
Dowagiac police received an anonymous call that a Katarri Shawntiz Edwards, 26, of Dowagiac, and Leetarrus Darnell Edwards, 25, of Dowagiac were in a vehicle on M-51 South.
City officers spotted the vehicle as it turned onto Warren Drive off of Pokagon Street.
Police attempted to stop the vehicle as it pulled into a driveway on Warren Drive.
The driver, Leetarrus Edwards, and the passenger, Katarri Edwards, fled from the vehicle on foot.
Katarri Edwards was caught after a brief foot chase by Dowagiac police.
He was arrested on seven outstanding warrants for his arrest and also arrested for resisting and obstructing police.
Leetarrus Edwards was found in a driveway on Pokagon Street a short distance away and arrested as well.
Edwards was arrested on an outstanding warrant along with resisting and obstructing police and possession of marijuana.
Both Edwards were lodged at the Cass County Jail on their respective charges.
Dowagiac police were assisted by the Pokagon Tribal Police Department.
