Berrien Springs slips by Rangers

CASSOPOLIS - The host Cassopolis Rangers outscored Berrien Springs 30-28 in the second half Friday night, but could not overcome an early deficit in a 63-48 Lakeland Conference victory.
The Rangers led 15-10 after one period of play Friday night, but then were out-scored 25-13 in the second quarter as the Shamrocks opened up a 35-28 halftime advantage.
Cassopolis (7-8 overall, 4-7 Lakeland Athletic Conference) spent the entire second half shaving points off of Berrien Springs' (9-7, 5-6) seven-point lead.
The Rangers cut the lead to 48-43 after three quarters of play, but could not complete the comeback as both teams scored 15 points in the final eight minutes.
Kevin Luckey led all scorers with 26 points. Cassopolis also got nine points from Will Loux and seven points apiece from Neal Bullocks and Derron Thomas.
Shelby Wood led Berrien Springs with 16 points. Matt Demier added 14 points.

The Cassoplis varsity basketball team squared its season record at 8-8 on Tuesday night with a 56-52 victory over visiting Bangor.
The Rangers trailed 16-13 after one period of play, but rallied to take a 34-29 lead at halftime.
Cassopolis extended its advantage to 49-43 in the third quarter and then held off the Vikings in the final eight minutes.
Kevin Luckey led all scorers with 21 points.
The Rangers also got 18 from Dan Stanage and 10 points from Derron Thomas.
Bangor was led by Joshua Mitchell's 19 points. The Vikings also got 13 points from Randy Noyer.
The Rangers will travel to Three Oaks on Friday night to face River Valley in a Lakeland Conference clash.
