A chase across town ended Tuesday with Dowagiac police arresting a Georgia man after a stolen car got stuck near the new middle school.
Chief Tom Atkinson reports that at approximately 2 a.m. Feb. 15 his officers located a stolen 1980 Oldsmobile driven by Justin Prince Brooks, 18, of Griffin, Ga.
When officers attempted to stop the vehicle, the suspect fled in the stolen auto.
The pursuit began near the new Eagle's Wood apartments and led police across town.
The chase finally came to an end when the suspect became mired in mud at the dead end of Riverside Drive.
After a short foot pursuit, officers apprehended Brooks.
Brooks was arrested and charged with possession of stolen property $1,000 to $20,000, driving with no valid license and fleeing and eluding police.
Dowagiac police officers were assisted in the pursuit and apprehension by Cass County sheriff's deputies and a Pokagon Band Tribal Police unit.
