Dowagiac freshmen, JV both defeated

The Dowagiac freshmen and junior varsity volleyball teams wrapped up the home portion of their schedule Monday night with losses to visiting Berrien Springs.
The freshmen squad dropped a 12-25 and 18-25 decision to the Lady Shamrocks, while the junior varsity squad was defeated, 17-25 and 23-25.

Lori Key, Stephanie Barnas and Alyson Wheeler all had one kill for Dowagiac.
Kassandra Leitz had 17 digs, while Kayla Saviano and Barnas had 15 and 10 kills respectively.
Katie Ernzen and Key each had an assist.
Dowagiac got five kills from Allison Frontzak, five digs from Katy Stuppy and 11 assists from Jill Wiesemes.
Amber Clark had the lone ace for Dowagiac.
The Chieftains return to action on Wednesday as they complete the Big 16 Conference crossover matches with a trip to face Battle Creek Central.
The freshmen and junior varsity matches are slated to begin at 6 p.m.
The JV squad will wrap up the regular season Feb. 21 at Coloma.
