BERRIEN SPRINGS - For the first time in 33 years, the Buchanan Bucks can call themselves Lakeland Conference champions in wrestling.
The Bucks earned a share of the league championship with Coloma after winning the league tournament Saturday in Berrien Springs.
Buchanan edged Coloma 145-140 in the league tournament. River Valley was a distant third with 107 points, while Edwardsburg (104), Cassopolis (98.5), Berrien Springs (86.5) and Brandywine (71) rounded out the order of finish.
The Bucks had four individual champions as Nick Wheetley, Travis Reith, Jim Conners and Ryan Carrigan captured titles as 119-, 125-, 189- and 275-pounds.
Todd Taylor finished second at 103-pounds, while Ryan Harrington finished second at 171-pounds.
Buchanan's Davee Medlin finished third at 14-pounds, while David Knisley took fourth at 112, Dan Toth took fourth at 145 and A.J. Long took fourth at 152.
Brandywine's Pat VanLaere finished second at 119-pounds.
Joel Perry finished third for the Bobcats at 152-pounds, while Jeremy Hecht was third at 215-pounds.
Adam Saltsman finished fourth at 125, Kyle Perry finished fourth at 135, Eugene Miller finished fourth at 160 and Jeremy Howell finished fourth at 275.
