Top ranked Tigers stay undefeated with victory

BENTON HARBOR - Top ranked (Class A) Benton Harbor remained undefeated Friday night with a 67-29 victory over visiting Niles.
The Tigers (17-0 overall, 6-0 Big 16 West Division) broke the game open early and never looked back as they close in on a Big 16 Conference West Division championship.
Niles (6-11, 2-4) scored just eight first half points against the Tigers as Benton Harbor opened up a 33-8 halftime advantage.
Benton Harbor poured in 20 first quarter points and then scored 13 points in the second period.
Niles tallied just five points in the first eight minutes and then three points in the second quarter.
The Tigers didn't let up at halftime either.
Benton Harbor exploded for 24 points in the third period compared to 11 points for the Vikings.
Niles trailed 57-19 after three periods.
Both teams scored 10 points in the final eight minutes with a running clock.
Wilson Chandler led a balanced Benton Harbor attack with 17 points.
The Tigers also got 12 points from Joique Bell, 11 points from Jay McCree and 10 points from Rodney Alexander.
Niles was led by Lavette Walker, who scored seven points.
Nate Parks added six points to the Niles totals.
Niles returns to Big 16 Conference West Division play on Tuesday night when it hosts Lakeshore beginning at 7:30 p.m.
