DUHS spikers at Loy Norrix

The Dowagiac varsity volleyball team hopes to take the momentum it built on Wednesday night against Battle Creek Lakeview into the Kalamazoo Loy Norrix' 2005 Volleyball Lover's Tournament.
Pool play is scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m.
Dowagiac will be in the Pink Pool with Lakeshore, Kalamazoo Central and Battle Creek Central.
The Red Pool will consist of Loy Norrix, Benton Harbor, Grand Rapids Ottawa Hills and Wyoming Tri-Unity Christian.
Dowagiac will face Kalamazoo Central in its opening game of pool play at 9:30 a.m.
The Chieftains will then face Lakeshore in its second match scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m. Dowaiac wraps up pool play against Battle Creek Central at 1:30 p.m.
Pool play will consist of rally scoring to 25 points with a cap of 27 points.
Pool play will be used to seed the teams for the single elimination tournament.
At 2:30 p.m. the No. 1 seed from the Red Pool will face the No. 4 seed from the Pink Pool. On Court 2, the No. 1 seed from the Pink Pool will take on the No. 1 seed from the Red Pool.
At 3:30, the No. 2 seed from the Red Pool will take on the No. 3 seed from the Pink Pool on Court 1, while on Court 2, the No. 2 seed from the Pink Pool will face the No. 3 seed from the Red Pool.
The semfinals will be held at 4:30 with the finals scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
The format for the single elimination tournament will be a best of three with rally scoring to 25 points with no cap. The third and deciding game will be to 15 points with no cap.
Junior high volleyball
The Central Middle School eighth grade volleyball teams were swept by Lakeshore on Thursday.
The eighth grade "A" team was defeaetd in three games by the Lady Lancers, 17-25, 16-25 and 19-25.
Alex Shuster and Becca Howe each scored six points. Linda Vela and Elizabeth Kolden had four and two points respectively.
The "B" team lost to Lakeshore, 10-25, 13-25 and 13-25.
Brittany Gnatz led the team with six points. Jessica Robinson, Shelby Willis, Linzy Kling and Kristian Stelmasiak all finished with two points.
On Monday the seventh and eighth grade volleyball teams will be introduced prior to the start of the varsity match between Dowagiac and Berrien Springs.
