NILES - Wrestling enthusiasts can get their fill of grappling on Saturday at a pair of conference tournaments.
The Big 16 Conference is headed to St. Joseph on Saturday for its annual individual tournament.
The Lakeland Conference will be deciding league champions on Saturday in Berrien Springs.
Wrestling is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
Lakeshore is the defending team champion. The Lancers finished with 184 points to easily outdistance runner-up Niles which finished with 150 points.
Rounding out the order of finisher were Battle Creek Lakeview (149.5), St. Joseph (142), Coldwater (137), Dowagiac (120), Portage Central (105.5), Battle Creek Central (105), Mattawan (94), Sturgis (87), Kalamazoo Central (68.5), Kalamazoo Loy Norrix (66), Marshall (53.5), Battle Creek Harper Creek (51), Portage Northern (22.5) and Benton Harbor (10).
Lakeshore will once again be among the favorites to win the team title, however, the Lancers will get several strong challenges.
The key may just be how the wrestlers are seeded.
With each and every school having several outstanding wrestlers, the tournament should once again provide its share of surprises.
Dowagiac and Niles should have plenty of seeds in the top 4 heading into Saturday's meet.
