Jr. High wrestling team opens up season

Last week the Central Middle school junior high wrestling team kicked off it's season by traveling to St. Joe Upton.
Winning matches on the evening were: Tyler Kuntz, Bobby Price, Kent Emmerson, Destin Payne, Alex Kuntz, Jeremy Kaler, Eric Garcia, Sinjin Ownby, Jacob Weldy, Jason Bailey, Micheal McNeil, Larry Tartt, Jacob Deuel, and Aaron Talley.
Dowagiac won 14 of the 36 matches.
On Saturday the wrestling team traveled to Allegan for an Invitational.
In the 18 team invitational, the Chieftains had two champions and finished ninth.
The champions were Alex Kuntz at 145-pounds and Chad Ottinger at heavyweight.
Ottinger avenged a defeat from St. Joe Upton in the championship match by pinning his opponent.
On Monday the Chieftains traveled to Niles to take on Ring Lardner.
Out of the 42 matches, the Chieftains won 25.
Winning two matches for the Chieftains were Jacob Weldy, and D.J. Tartt.
Other Chieftains winning matches on the night were: Kasey Proshwitz, Kent Emmerson, Scott Ferrier, Mike Sirk, Destin Payne, Jaron Mosier, Jason Bailey, John Myers, Jacob Deuel, Andrew Hurrle, Cody Cox, Chad Ottinger, Adam Roach, Aaron Talley, Joe Poorman, Andrew Ostrowski, Bobby Price, Zach Blank, Jeremy Kaler, Tyler Kuntz,and Andrew Jackson.
