Dowagiac freshmen, junior varsity volleyball teams split with visiting Brandywine Bobcats

The Dowagiac freshmen and junior varsity volleyball teams both went three games Monday night against Brandywine.
The freshmen squad lost in three games, while the junior varsity won in three games.
Freshmen volleyball
Dowagiac was defeated in three games by the Lady Bobcats, 24-26, 25-17 and 6-15.
Lori Key, Kayla Saviano and Kathleen Ernzen all had three kills for Dowagiac.
Saviano led the team with 11 digs. Stephanie Barnas finished with three digs.
Kassandra Leitz led the team in aces with seven. Barnas led the team in assists with three.
Dowagiac is now 9-14-2 on the year.
JV volleyball
Dowagiac defeated visiting Brandywine in three games, 25-13, 23-25 and 15-12.
Allison Frontczak, Katy Stuppy and Sarah Shelton all had three kills for Dowagiac.
Frontzak also had seven aces, while Stuppy had three digs.
Jill Wiesemes finished with 10 assists. Calie Daniels led Dowagiac with four digs. Kathleen Lindt finished with three digs.
Bangor Invitational
Dowagiac finished first in its pool on Saturday and then third overall.
The Chieftains defeated Bangor, 21-12 and 21-16; defeated Martin, 21-8 and 21-10; defeated Fennville, 21-14 and 21-15; and split with Schoolcraft, 14-21 and 21-12.
Against Bangor, Daniels had three kills, three digs and two aces, Frontczak had three kills, Wiesemes had six assists, Amber Clark had two aces, and Stuppy had three digs.
Against Martin, Sarah Shelton led Dowagiac with four kills, Wiesemes had seven assists, Clark had five aces and Lindt had two digs.
Against Fennville, Daniels had six kills, Wiesemes 10 assists and three aces, while Stuppy and Lindt led the team in digs.
Stuppy had four kills, one ace and four digs against Schoolcraft, Wiesemes had nine assists, Daniels had an ace, while Frontczak and Shelton each had an assisted block.
Dowagiac took on Kalmazoo Christian, runner-up in Pool B, in the semifinals, losing 21-15, 14-21 and 11-15.
Daniels had five kills to lead Dowagiac, which also got four kills from Stuppy, 11 aces from Wiesemes, four aces from Stuppy, four digs from Clark, and assisted blocks from Shelton and Daniels.
