NILES - In light of the recent abduction and murder of a young Indiana girl, Michigan State Police Troopers from Post 53 in Niles are warning Niles residents about a suspicious event which occurred here on Tuesday, Jan. 25, near Knight Drive in Niles Township.
A resident there reported a stranger making contact with her children, who were playing in the front yard of the home.
Apparently, the driver of an older, dark blue car stopped and asked the children if they "had seen his small brown dog." The man was described to be a white male in his 50s.
Residents who notice any similar suspicious activity are encouraged to contact the Michigan State Police Niles Post at 683-4411. Parents are also urged to educate their children about appropriate and inappropriate contact from strangers and how to protect themselves if approached by a stranger.
