Over a year ago, Dowagiac's Jerry Lundy, a long-time wrestling fan, decided he wanted to give something back to the sport which he loves so dearly.
So he decided to raffle off a week at his Northwestern Ontario Lundy's Canadian Wilderness Camp.
Lundy did not decide to do this because he wanted to promote his camp. He just wanted to give something back to Dowagiac athletics while he was in a position to do so.
His seven-day fishing trip to Canada is valued at $2,100. Raffle tickets, which are on sale at all Dowagiac home sporting events, are $30.
While the wrestling program is running the raffle, the proceeds from the trip will benefit all Dowagiac athletic programs equally according to Lundy.
The winner will receive the following:
boat ride into and back to roadside dock
housekeeping cabin right on the lake
two boats, with new 15-horse Yamaha motors
all gas used for the week
four conservation licenses
two dozen minnows per boat per day
free use of one portable fish finder
deluxe boat seats
all taxes included
This free trip is four a group of four guests and can be scheduled for any week in July of this year.
The camp is only accessible by boat or plane and is on Wabaskang Lake.
Lundy's Canadian Wilderness camp is in its 15th year and is operated by Jerry and his wife Sally.
Tickets can also be purchased at the Dowagiac athletic office, Hannapel Home Center, The Bear's Den and by contacting any wrestling parent or coach.
The winner will be announced at the Feb. 3 home wrestling match.
More information is available by contacting the athletic office or Coach John Green.
