BERRIEN SPRINGS - The Bobcats suffered a Lakeland Conference loss Friday night at Berrien Springs 68-42.
Brandywine, now 0-6 in conference, 1-10 overall, got off to a slow start and only scored one point in the first four minutes of play.
Brett Shoemaker scored the first two points 3:59 into the quarter.
Mike Nagy, Bill Bussey and Alex Newman all contributed points to the Bobcats' score. Berrien Springs ended the first quarter leading, 18-10.
D.J. Elrod gave Brandywine its first two points of the second quarter. Brandywine had some troubles rebounding the ball and left quite a few Berrien Springs players open, allowing them to go up by more than 15 points halfway through the second.
Brandywine went into halftime down 36-15
Elrod once again scored the first three points for the Bobcats in the third quarter. Shoemaker, Bussey and Zach Bennett had a combined total of eight points for Brandywine in the quarter. The Bobcats played a lot better and look more comfortable in the third, but they still had a big hole to fill and ended the third down 54-26.
Adam Prescott was able to grab his own rebound on a missed shot and put it in for Branywine to start the final quarter. Shoemaker scored the next eight points in a row for the Bobcats, two of them being from the free throw line. He was the only player for Brandywine able to go 2-2 at the line.
Shoemaker had a career-high 20 points for the Bobcats.
