CASSOPOLIS - Cass County Sheriff Joseph M. Underwood Jr. reports his office handled a personal-injury accident on Dutch Settlement Street, near Randall road in Wayne Township, on Saturday, Jan. 15.
A vehicle driven by 17-year- old Melissa Manos of Dowagiac, with a passenger, 17-year-old Nicole Guntle of Dowagiac, was traveling eastbound on Dutch Settlement when she lost control of her vehicle.
The vehicle overturned onto its roof.
Both victims were transported by Dowagiac ambulance to Borgess Lee-Memorial Hospital in Dowagiac, where they were treated for minor injuries.
Investigation and witnesses believe the driver lost control of the vehicle on an icy roadway.
Deputies were assisted by Dowagiac Police Department, Wayne Township Fire Department and Dowagiac Volunteer Fire Department Ambulance Service.
Both victims were wearing their seatbelts.
Road conditions at the time of the accident were icy.
Alcohol was not a factor, the sheriff said.
