Niles F.O.P. announces changes for 2005 season

Niles F.O.P. Little League announced a restructuring plan for the upcoming 2005 baseball season. F.O.P. formerly had two different divisions - Major league (ages 10-12) and Minor League (ages 6-9). The new format is described below.
Little Minor Division
Consisting of age 6 – 8 year old players. Will focus on the basic fundamentals of baseball using a pitching machine format. Coaches will work on proper batting, throwing and fielding fundamentals.
Minor League Division: Consisting of age 9 – 10 year old players. Will give players a chance to experience live pitching in a learning environment.
Skills emphasized will be proper pitching techniques, base running, batting against live pitching and fielding.
Major League Division
Consisting of age 11-12 year old players. Will allow players the chance to focus on age appropriate skills and will give players a more competitive environment to prepare for the next step in baseball. Skills emphasized will be advanced pitching, aggressive base running and mental developmental skills.
