CASSOPOLIS - A young Niles woman lost control of her sport utility vehicle Friday night on Huntly Road in Howard Township and snapped a utility pole in half leaving the roadway near Lilac Avenue.
Cass County Sheriff Joseph M. Underwood Jr. reports his office handled the mishap at 8:10 p.m. Friday, Jan. 7.
The crash occurred when Debra Jankoviak, 19, of Niles, was southbound on Huntly.
She lost control of her SUV on the icy pavement and left the roadway.
Her SUV then struck a utility pole, snapping it in half.
Jankoviak and passenger Stephanie House, 16, of Niles, were transported by SMCAS, the Southwestern Michigan Community Ambulance Service of Niles, to Lakeland Hospital, Niles, for treatment.
