Brandywine's wrestlers dug themselves a big hole early Wednesday, but fought back to make it a close contest against River Valley. In the end, however, the Mustangs edged the Bobcats 41-33.
Brandywine lost the first four matches starting at 215 to begin the meet. Trailing 21-0, the Bobcats came back to tie the score with four consecutive wins of their own.
Jordon Bruni at 135 pounds and Taylor Brenner at 152 pounds each got pins in less than a minute for the Bobcats. Bruni pinned River Valley's Clayton Smith in 40 seconds, and Brenner pinned the Mustangs' Richy Zeiger in 27 seconds.
The meet was special for Brandywine head coach Rex Pomranka. Pomranka was head coach of the Mustangs for a year before becoming an assistant at Brandywine three years ago. This is his first year as head coach of the Bobcats.
