NILES - The ice and cold of winter leads some kids to stay at home.
Youngsters in Niles had different plans Wednesday morning at the Niles District Library, which played host to "balloon man," J.J. Snyder.
Snyder made balloon animals for about a dozen children and their parents in the library's Children's Department.
Snyder, a former teacher who resides in Mishawaka, Ind. has created balloon designs for nearly three years.
The dozens of shapes Snyder created included frogs, dinosaurs, hats and even race cars.
David's sister Deonna agreed.
Laura Meredith brought her 4-year-old grandson, Noah Pettit,to see the balloons.
Meredith thought programs at the library, like Snyder's, were great activities for children to get out and socialize.
Children's Department assistant John Slack said a variety of events take place in the department.
Four-year-old Pettit was more focused on the balloons.
Snyder said he enjoyed working with the younger children. As a teacher, he taught teenage students.
