CASSOPOLIS - Cass County commissioners Dec. 16 granted Drain Commissioner Jeff VanBelle's request to loan $50,000 from the delinquent tax revolving fund to the lake level fund for six months.
Repayment would be due June 30, 2005, at 2-percent interest.
Commissioner David Taylor, D-Edwardsburg, said he did not oppose the loan, but is against removing funds from the delinquent tax fund.
Taylor favors transfer of the money from the delinquent tax fund into the general fund or budget stabilization fund.
Taylor said he would offer a proposal after the first of the year.
Taylor also proclaimed himself a candidate for vice chairman at the reorganization meeting Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2005.
