Buchanans Boys Basketball team had everything to be pumped up about in Fridays match up against Berrien Springs. It was their first home game and they had a full house with some very excited and loud fans.
The Bucks started the game with an early 11-4 lead over the Shamrocks. But Berrien Springs quickly retracted when Shelby Woods hit 3 3-pointers in a row to give them the lead. The game stayed close throughout the first half, but the scoring was very low. Buchanan went into halftime only ahead by 3 points 26-23.
Buchanan came into the third quarter with a complete turn around nearly doubling their score from the first half. Tony Robinson scored the first 2 points of the quarter for Buchanan making an assisted alley-oop pass from Brian Shannon. Shannon turned around on the next play and added another 2 points for the Bucks. Shelby Woods gave Berrien Springs their first basket of the quarter putting them back on the boards 32-26. But Buchanan once again turned around and Robinson made another alley-oop pass basket assisted by Shannon to keep the Bucks ahead. They ended the third quarter with their biggest lead of the night 51-41.
Buchanan was able to keep the lead and not let Berrien Springs come close to them in the fourth. Gordon Bryant was fouled early in the fourth making two free throws for the Bucks. Jordan Lee and Tony Robinson both added 2 more points to Buchanans score. Lee then turned around and added 2 points back to back to keep Buchanan ahead 62-43. Jonathan Chansa scored the last 2 points for Berrien Springs and Kyle Tracey scored Buchanans last 2 points on the free throw line giving them their 67-52 win.
