EDWARDSBURG - No one can remember the last time Cassopolis beat Edwardsburg in a dual match.
There are speculations, however, no one could come up with a firm date.
It didn't really matter to the Cassopolis wrestlers, and it especially didn't matter to former Eddie wrestler and now Ranger coach Tony Catanzarite.
In the end, the only thing that did matter was the 37-30 final score.
Visiting Cassopolis rolled up a huge advantage in the Lakeland Conference match up and then held on for dear life.
The Eddies won the final four matches to make the score a big more respectable, but in the end it was a dominating Ranger victory.
With the win, Cassopolis improves to 8-0 on the season.
The match started, and according to Catanzarite, ended with the first two bouts.
Due to a random draw for a starting weight, Wednesday night's match began at 275.
Cassopolis rolled to a 12-0 lead as John Turnbow and Cordero Williams both came away with pins.
Turnbow, a sophomore, pinned Eric Meadows in 3:26.
Williams, a first year wrestler who also plays basketball, pinned Zach Fitzsimmons in 1:56.
Edwardsburg closed the gap to 12-9 with back-to-back victories at 119 and 125.
However, the Rangers won the next five matches to clinch the victory.
Earning wins during that stretch for Cassopolis were Zach Deubner (130), Justin Tucker (135), John McCoy (145), Kenny Brown (145) and Randy Hemminger (152).
Edwardsburg rallied, but trailing 37-9, there were not enough points left on the board to pull out the come-from-behind victory.
The Eddies did get wins in the final four bouts from Corey Parson, Bill Miller, Joe White and Jim Fein.
The final three victories came by way of pins.
Edwardsburg coach John Rinehart was not unhappy with his squad's performance.
He knows that he has a young squad which will get better as the year goes on.
Cassopolis is looking to add to its success from last season when the Rangers won the district championship.
Cantazarite knows that this is a key year for the program.
Cassopolis and Edwardsburg both returned to the mat Wednesday when they continued Lakeland Conference action.
The Rangers travelled to Berrien Springs, while the Eddies travelled to Coloma.
