The Dowagiac varsity "B" wrestling team was edged by Cassopolis Wednesday night in Berrien Springs, 36-30.
The Chieftains also were defeated by the host Shamrocks, 46-24.
The Chieftains won six matches against the Rangers, but could not overcome a six-bout winning streak by Cassopolis in the middle of the match.
Cassopolis dominated Dowagiac from 130 to 160-pounds.
Winning matches for the Rangers during that stretch were Zach Deubner, Justin Tucker, John McCoy, Randy Hemminger, Kenny Brown and Joey Sobieski.
Dowagiac picked up wins at 125-pounds with Nathan Long, Kyle Bailey at 171, Kyle Bennet at 189, Nate Behnke at 215 and Robert Wescott at heavyweight.
In the Berrien Springs match, Dowagiac earned victories at 145-pounds with Jeremy Shank, 171-pounds with Bennett, 189-pounds with Behnke and 215-pounds with Wescott.
The Rangers also defeated Berrien Springs on Wednesday night to improve to 2-0 in Lakeland Conference matches.
Cassopolis defeated the Shamrocks, 46-24.
Picking up victories over Berrien Springs were Zach Deubner, Tucker, John McCoy, Hemminger, Brown, Sobieski, Josh Deubner, Josh Westphal and Josh Turnbow.
On the year, Zach Deubner, John McCoy and Hemminger are 15-0.
Tucker is 14-1 on the season, while Brown is now 12-3.
The Dowagiac varsity wrestling team returns to action tonight when it heads to Benton Harbor to open up Big 16 Conference West Division action.
The match is slated to get under way at 6 p.m. with junior varsity matches.
