In its second game of the season, Brandywine's basketball team again found themselves in an early hole Tuesday at Marcellus, down 20-6 after the first quarter.
As the game progressed, the hole continued to get larger for the Bobcats, who lost the game by 50-points, 79-29.
Brandywine had no answer for Marcellus' duo of Sam Bridges and Andy Ringle, who combined to outscore the entire Bobcats' team. Bridges hit for 21, while Ringle scored 17 points.
Alex Newman led Brandywine with seven points. Zach Bennett added six and Mike Nagy five points. The Bobcats hit just 12 field goals in the game and shot just five free throws, making four.
In the second quarter, Brandywine tried its best to come back, scoring 10 points, the only period in which the Bobcats scored double figures. Marcellus scored 23 points, however, to increase their lead to 43-16 at halftime.
Tuesday was the second of back-to-back games for Brandywine, who opened its season with a home loss to Decatur Monday.
In that first game, the Bobcats also struggled to score early, falling behind 11-0 and remaining scoreless for the first seven minutes of the ball game.
