NILES - On Wednesday, Dec. 1, at 5:43 p.m., Troopers from the Michigan State Police Niles Post responded to a two car personal injury crash which occurred at the intersection of Redfield and Ironwood, Milton Township, Cass County.
Lindsey Banish, 18, of Berrien Springs, was headed west on Redfield when she struck the vehicle of Judith Mpamira, 18, of Buchanan, as she pulled out into her path off of Ironwood Road. Banish's vehicle then careened off the roadway into a Midwest Energy utility pole. Seatbelt usage by all involved contributed to the lack of serious injuries.
Both Banish and Mpamira, along with Mpamira's passenger, were transported via SMCAS ambulance to the Lakeland Medical Center in Niles for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
Alcohol was not a factor in the crash. State Troopers were assisted by Deputies from the Cass County Sheriff's Office and Niles Township Fire Department.
