The Niles Community Schools Board of Education and Superintendent Doug Law have agreed to a three-year extension of Law's contract.
The new contract will run through the 2007-2008 school year.
Law's current contract was set to expire at the end of this school year. He is in his 34th year of service to the district and this is his fourh year as superintendent.
Law's current salary is $105,500 and a decision on any salary increase will be made at the end of this school year, school board officials said in a press release.
Board President Jerry French said the board did not want to wait until this spring to offer a contract extension. Michigan is currently experiencing a shortage of qualified superintendents and several school districts are all ready searching for candidates to fill positions that will be open in July 2005.
