Niles man pulled from burning truck in Cass crash

CASSOPOLIS - Cass County Sheriff Joseph M. Underwood Jr. reports that at 2:40 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 24, his office responded to a motor vehicle accident that occurred on M-40 near Hoffman Street in Newberg Township.
A Ford pickup, driven by David Hadley, 58, of Niles, lost control and left the roadway.
The vehicle struck a tree, starting a fire in the engine compartment.
Alan Pearson and Nathan Buchhold, both of Marcellus, were passing by and pulled Hadley from the burning vehicle.
Hadley was transported to Three Rivers Area Hospital and later transferred to Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo.
Fire services for the crash were provided by Newberg Fire Department.
This accident remains under investigation.
