Brandywine is looking to move in a positive direction with its athletics programs and facilities, and superintendent Gary Rider said they have the right man for the job.
Brandywine's school board unanimously approved the hire of Vance Stratton as the high school's Athletics Director at its meeting Monday.
Stratton comes to Brandywine from Cassopolis, where he served as athletics director at Ross Beatty High School from 1996 to August.
Since August, he has remained an assistant football and wrestling coach, as well as a seventh grade science teacher.
Stratton has been with Cassopolis Public Schools since 1991, also serving as an alternative education teacher and a physical education teacher.
From 1976 to 1990, he was a physical education instructor for Rushville Consolidated School Corportation.
The new athletics director said he's excited to be working with Brandywine and wants to help take the school and its sports programs where they want to go.
Stratton, 50, is originally from Indianapolis where he graduted from Northwest High School in 1972. He then graduated from Indiana Central University (now University of Indianapolis) in 1976 with a degree in physical education. In 1980, he earned a master's degree from Ball State in physical education.
