LaMore earns easy win of county job

NILES - Residents in Niles Township elected former Niles Township Fire Chief John LaMore as Berrien County Board of Commissioner's 12th District Tuesday.
LaMore, who represented the Republican party in the contest, defeated Democratic candidate Dennis Casto, earning 3,212 votes to Casto's 2,262.
LaMore edged out incumbent Jim Converse in the Aug. 3 primary election to represent the Republican Party for Berrien County Board of Commissioner's 12th District in Tuesday's election.
LaMore said despite the hard work, he enjoyed his first political campaign very much.
LaMore said he was glad to have the support of the majority of Township residents and he looks forward to serving the people of Niles Township.
Township residents also re-elected Republican incumbent James Ringler as township treasurer. Ringler earned 2,963 votes, 394 more than Democratic challenger Linda Norman's 2,569 votes.
