Bees beat Buchanan to stay undefeated

Buchanan's girls' basketball team suffered a loss at Bridgman Tuesday in which the Bees more than doubled the Bucks' score, winning 69-32.
The victory kept Bridgman undefeated this season, moving the Bees to an overall record of 16-0, 11-0 in the Lakeland Athletic Conference. Buchanan falls to 5-12 and 5-8 in conference.
A game after coming out sluggish against Berrien Springs on Thursday, the Bucks were again hurt by a poor first quarter. Bridgman outscored them 25-4 in the opening period.
The lead grew each quarter from there, as the Bees won the game by a 37-point margin.
The Bucks suffered a 27-point loss to Bridgman when the two met for the first time this season Sept. 30
Hayley Cashier led Buchanan in scoring, hitting for 15 points on five field goals and 5-of-11 free throw shooting. No other Buck was in double figures.
Bridgman's duo of Heather Seyfred and Melani Demler combined for 16 field goals and 7-of-7 free throw shooting to score 42 points. Seyfred had 24, including three 3-pointers, while Demler added 18.
Buchanan failed to make a 3-pointer. The Bucks also struggled from the line, hitting 10-of-21 free throws. Bridgman went 10-of-11 from the line.
After winning three straight games from Oct. 5-12, Buchanan has now lost four straight games. The Bucks face Edwardsburg at home Thursday in their next to last game of the regular season.
