CASSOPOLIS - Saturday, Oct. 30th will mark the First Anniversary of an independent, grass roots youth club in Cassopolis with a Harvest Celebration.
The Youth Club of Cass County came about with the hard work and determination of a group of dedicated volunteers, lead by Mary McFarland of Cassopolis.
McFarland, founder and president of the Board of the Youth Club, has been acting director in this last year. She does this after hours of her full time job as administrator of Helping Hands of Cassopolis.
The all volunteer organization, will do this anniversary justice with a community wide Harvest Party with something of value for everyone in the family.
The Edward Lowe Foundation, area pastors, the local law enforcement, the Southwestern Michigan Faith Based Initiative Training Institute, and Digm Shift Band will help measure the great strides that the club has made in this last year.
This summer the youthful members of the club, located in a century old barn on Decatur Rd., have gone sailing on a private yacht, challenged each other at an all-day picnic and fishing contest, and tapped their toes at a Barn Dance.
These activities were apart from their regular club days of Tuesday and Saturday when they play games, tell stories, develop career ideas and socialize in a safe and guided program of activities.
The Harvest Celebration will be at the club's headquarters at 60405 Decatur Road, Cassopolis, just down the road from the Cass County Council on Aging.
The date is Saturday, Oct. 30, from 4 to 10 p.m. There will be a program at 4:30, followed by games and a hayride.
Digm Shift Band will begin performing at 8 p.m.
All parents of minors are asked to accompany their children.
