Bucks lose to Comets

Buchanan's girls' basketball team took an early lead Tuesday, but couldn't hold on, suffering a 42-36 loss to Coloma at home.
The Bucks were up 9-6 heading to the second quarter. Coloma then outscored Buchanan 12-5 in the second period to take a 18-14 lead into halftime. Buchanan pulled to within 28-29 heading into the final quarter, but lost the game by eight.
Dee Dee Thompson led Buchanan with 14 points on five field goals and 4-of-10 shooting from the line. Hayley Cashier scored 11. No other Buck scored more than five points.
Thompson had a double-double on the night, grabbing 13 rebounds.
Kachina Blackmore led the Comets with 20 points, hitting on eight field goals.
The Bucks committed 16 team fouls in the game to Coloma's 11.
With the loss, Buchanan falls to 5-10 overall and 5-5 in the Lakeland Conference.
