CASSOPOLIS - A suspect was apprehended early Tuesday for Monday afternoon's armed robbery of the K&D Mart, 10344 M-60, Three Rivers.
Cass County Sheriff Joseph M. Underwood Jr. reports deputies from his office are investigating the holdup.
From witnesses on the scene, deputies were advised that a white male wearing a ski mask produced a handgun and demanded money from the store clerk.
The suspect also ordered patrons down on the floor during the 3:59 p.m. robbery Oct. 25. The suspect succeeded in obtaining an undisclosed amount of cash from the business. He then fled the scene westbound on M-60 in a small, dark-colored vehicle with tinted windows. Later in the evening, Cass sheriff's deputies were advised by deputies from the St. Joseph County, Mich., Sheriff's Office that they were investigating an armed robbery that occurred in their county at 7 p.m.
At 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 26, St. Joseph County further advised its officers had made an arrest, and that the suspect they had in custody was the same suspect in the Cass County armed robbery.
The suspect was apprehended without incident and was being held at the St. Joseph County Jail in Centreville pending charges in both counties.
