In its final game of the season, Brandywine's junior varsity team had one of its best efforts of the year Thursday, a 28-0 shutout of Edwardsburg.
The victory give the Bobcats a final record of 5-3.
Brandywine controlled both sides of the ball, gaining 335 yards of offense while limiting the Eddies to 136. Edwardsburg gained 35 of those yards on its final drive of the game, once the game was well out of reach.
Ricky Wood was a star for the Bobcats in the game. He caught three passes for 110 yards and a touchdown. He also caught the two-point conversion after his score.
Wood made big plays on defense, too. After Brandywine turned the ball over on downs at Edwardsburg's 16-yard line, the Eddies fumbled on their first play. Wood scooped the ball off the ground and returned it 17-yards for his second touchdown on the night.
The score put Brandywine ahead 21-0 late in the third quarter and put away Edwardsburg for good. The Eddies didn't have a drive into Bobcat territory after the turnover.
Quarterback Joel Perry also came up big for Brandywine. He completed 8-of-11 passes for 144 yards and three touchdowns.
While Wood and Perry made the big plays, running back Caleb Frazier was the Bobcats' work-horse. Frazier carried the ball 27 times, racking up 131 yards.
A majority of his work came in the second half. He rushed 16 times for 97 yards in the second and third quarters.
Frazier was part of Brandywine's rushing attack that gained 163 yards. The Bobcats were balanced on offense the whole night through, gaining 172 yards through the air.
Andy Williams scored the first touchdown of the game for Brandywine on an 18-yard pass from Perry on fourth down and six. Dustin Zimmerman's extra point was blocked, giving the Bobcats a 6-0 edge.
Wood caught his scoring pass on a 45-yard bomb from Perry, also on fourth down, in the third quarter.
Perry's final touchdown toss of the game was a six-yard dump to Lance Talinferro with 2:19 remaining in the game.
