Lady Rangers rebound to pound Buchanan

BUCHANAN - After winning two in a row, Buchanan couldn't get its third straight victory Thursday. The Bucks lost 53-39 to Cassopolis at home.
The Rangers got too far ahead of Buchanan in the first quarter for the Bucks to make a serious run. Cass built a 21-8 lead in the period.
Cass pushed its lead to 14 points at halftime and 16 points at the end of three.
Kelsey Gordon led the Lady Rangers with 20 points.
Cassopolis also got 11 points from Jealyn Foston and eight points from Michelle James.
Katie Backus led Buchanan with 12 points on six field goals. One game after scoring 22 points, the Bucks' Dee Dee Thompson managed just six points Thursday. She did grab 12 rebounds.
Backus was the only Buck in double-figures. No other Buchanan player scored more than seven points.
Cassopolis improved to 10-2 on the year and 7-2 in the Lakeland Conference.
Buchanan is now 5-9 overall and 5-4 in the Lakeland Conference.

The Cassopolis Rangers continued their roll through the Lakeland Conference with a 24-point victory over Berrien Springs Tuesday night.
The game was over almost before it started.
The Lady Rangers (11-2, 8-2) outscored the visiting Lady Shamrocks, 15-2, in the first quarter.
Berrien Springs and Cassopolis both scored eight points which left the Lady Rangers with a 23-10 halftime advantage.
Cassopolis outscored Berrien Springs 24-13 in the second half.
Jealyn Foston scored a game-high 16 points for the Lady Rangers, who also got double figure efforts from Michelle James (11) and Kelsey Gordon (10).
Berrien Springs was led by Christine Drach's nine points. Samantha Cooper added seven points.
