Brawley leads Vikes’ runners at Sturgis

Niles freshman Samantha Brawley was the top local finisher at Saturday's Kiwanis Invitational at Sturgis. Brawley placed 10th in the girls' Division 1 and 2 race.
Her finish wasn't enough for the Vikings, as Niles finished in seventh place of seven teams with 176 points. Grandville won the girls' Division 1 and 2 race with 19 points.
In the boys' Division 3 and 4 race, Brandywine's Brain Wieger took 12th place, finishing in 17:59.4. Dan Devos placed 18th with a time of 19:45.4. in the race, the Bobcats finished fifth with 108 points.
Lumen Christian won the boys' Division 3 and 4 race, followed by Quincy (71), Berrien Springs (84) and Edwardsburg (87).
For the Bobcats in the girls' race, Caylin Garrard was the top finisher, taking the 20th spot in 23:30.6. Lumen also won the girls' race.
