Dowagiac freshmen, JV sweep past visiting Coldwater Lady Cardinals

Kate Ernzen's three-pointer in the final two minutes of Thursday's opening game of a tripleheader with Coldwater gave the Dowagiac freshmen girls' basketball team a 29-26 victory.
Dowagiac trailed 7-2 after one period of play and 15-10 at the intermission.
Coldwater outscored Dowagiac 8-3 in the third quarter to take a 23-13 lead into the final eight minutes of play.
Dowagiac turned up the defensive pressure in the fourth quarter and outscored the Lady Cardinals 11-3 to earn the come-from-behind victory.
Tanisha White led the Chieftains with 12 points.
Dowagiac also got seven points from Holly McCuddy and six points from Ernzen. Kathleen Lindt added four points.
Dowagiac outscored Coldwater 23-10 in the second half to earn the victory Thursday night.
Dowagiac led 7-6 after one period of play and led 16-13 at the intermission.
The Chieftains then outscored the Cardinals 11-8 in the third quarter to break open the game.
Both teams scored 12 points in the final eight minutes.
Kristy Cooper led the Chieftains with 14 points.
Dowagiac also got 11 points from Beth Williams and seven points from Sada Nealy.
