Thompson leads Bucks past Mustangs

Buchanan's girls basketball team used a fast and furious first quarter to grab a quick lead and held on for a big win Thursday against River Valley.
Dee Dee Thompson was a big part of the Bucks' 64-55 victory, scoring 22 points on 11 field goals. Thompson also added 13 rebounds for a double-double.
Hayley Cashier also had a double-double for Buchanan, scoring 12 points and grabbing 11 rebounds.
Buchanan already had an 11-point lead after the first period. The Bucks increased their advantage to 14 at the end of the half.
River Valley made a slight run to get the lead to single-digits in the fourth, but Buchanan held on.
The Bucks benefitted from the hot shooting of Sheena Bradshaw. Bradshaw nailed four 3-pointers on her way to 16 points.
The Bucks allowed the Mustangs seven 3-pointers.
With the victory, Buchanan moves to 5-8 with a 5-3 record in the Lakeland Conference. The Bucks play again Thursday against Cassopolis at home.
