Bucks split home meets

In double-dual meet action, Buchanan's boys split a pair of cross country meets at home Monday. The girls dropped both their meets in the same format.
In the boys' race, the Bucks topped Bridgman 38-19. Berrien Springs slightly edged Buchanan, however, 25-30. The Shamrocks also defeated Bridgman by a 16-39 margin.
Kyle Banish of Berrien Springs won the meet easily. His time of 18:17 was 35 seconds better than second-place finisher Harper Sulier of Buchanan. The Bucks' Nick Wheatley took third in 19:10, and Jon Young finished sixth in 20:05.
The girls' scores were even closer, as the Bucks lost both races by a total of three points. Buchanan lost 26-29 to Berrien Springs and 27-29 to Bridgman.
Jessica Banish, Kyle's older sister, won the girls' race in 22:14 for Berrien Springs. Gina Sebasty was Buchanan's top finisher, coming in fifth place in a time of 24:13. Lizzy Brown took sixth, and Laura Kulis took seventh for the Bucks.
