Brandywine finished the season in sixth-place in the Lakeland Conference golf standings. But one Bobcat shined individually at Thursday's conference championship.
Joe Sobieralski shot rounds of 37 and 45 to total an 82, good enough to earn co-medalst honors. He tied with another local standout, Buchanan's Nathan Layher, who also shot an 82.
Justin Ely shot an 87 for the Bobcats, leading them to a surprise victory in the conference meet. Brandywine hadn't finished higher than fifth in any meet all season.
Buchanan placed fifth on Thursday. The Bucks finished in third-place in the conference behind conference champion Coloma and second-place Edwardsburg.
Layher was the second best golfer in terms of average strokes over the season.
He averaged a little more than 40 strokes per round, less than a point behind the Lakeland leader, James Bradshaw from Coloma.
Brandywine's top golfer was Ely, who averaged less than 44 strokes, which placed him seventh overall in the conference.
