After Niles beat South Haven in a dual golf match Tuesday, Vikings head coach Greg Gunder coined a new nickname for his team - the Yo-Yo Boys.
The Vikings won 164-175 and were led by Scott Majerek, who shot a 1-over par 36 on the front nine of Orchard Hills.
Majerek had just 15 putts in the nine holes. He hit six fairways off the tee and made six greens-in-regulation. It was his best score of the season.
Gunder's colorful nickname came after Ben Landgraf, consistently Niles' lowest scorer, shot a 44, fourth-best on the team.
The nickname could also be applied to D.J. Wolnick, who shot a 49 one match after shooting a 39.
Along with Majerek, Alex Welch was up on Tuesday, shooting a 41. Darren Martin shot a 53.
In the junior varsity match, Niles beat South Haven 207-197. Jared Kabara's 49 led the way for the Vikings.
Also for Niles, Jordan Hendricks and Warren Simpson shot 54s, David Newman shot a 50, Derrek Matlock shot a 55 and Nick Horn shot a 56.
