Driver crosses center line twice

The following reports came from the Niles City Police Department:
On Aug. 27 at 11:59 p.m., Niles City Police arrested Shirlee May Wakkinen, 55, 1342 Silverbrook Ave., pending charges of operating under the influence of alcohol.
Police observed Wakkinen driving westbound on Lake Street, crossing the center line twice. According to the police report, Wakkinen pulled into the oncoming traffic lane approximately 40 ft. before the the turn lane began.
Wakkinen then turned south on Fifth Street and crossed the center line again. Police conducted a traffic stop on Pokagon Street.
When she was interviewed by police, Wakkinen admitted she had just come from a bar on Lake Street.
Police arrested Wakkinen and transported her to the Niles Law Enforcement Complex where she was booked and lodged on an eight-hour hold.
On Aug. 25, Niles City Police arrested Derek Ray Dykema, 20, 1711 S. 15th St., pending charges of operating under the influence of alcohol.
Police observed a green 1997 Dodge pick up truck traveling southbound on Fifth Street. The truck turned east on Poplar Street without using a turn signal and then proceed to swiftly turn right on Sixth Street.
The truck then turned the wrong way onto Vine Street, which is a one way street, without using a turn signal, according to the police report.
Police conducted a traffic stop on Fifth Street near Dey Street. Dykema, who was driving the truck, was arrested for operating under the influence of alcohol and transported to the Niles Law Enforcement Complex where he was booked and lodged on an eight-hour hold.
Dykema was also issued citations for failure to use a turn signal and driving the wrong way down a one-way street.
