VanHusan finishes 4th at Berrien Springs

BERRIEN SPRINGS - Amanda VanHusan continued to excel for the Dowagiac girls' cross country team as she finished fourth overall Saturday morning at the Berrien Springs Invitational.
VanHusan, who has earned a medal in her previous three invitationals, ran a time of 20:28 on Saturday.
Dowagiac finished sixth in the girl's race with 155 points. Lakeshore was the overall winner with 29 points. Paw Paw finished second with 79 and the host Lady Shamrocks third with 111. Bridgman and Constantine were fourth and fifth respectively with scores of 118 and 136.
Lakeshore's Jessica Schewe was the overall winner with a time of 19:21.9.
Leah Dohm finished 29th for the Chieftains with a time of 23:53.6, while Lori Key was 39th with a time of 25:32.6. Kayla Saviano finished 40th, Katie Hewitt 43rd, Ashley Willis 51st and Catie Hamilton 58th.
Dowagiac finished seventh in the boy's race with 226 points. Constantine was the overall winner with 51 points, while Lakeshore was second with 69. Paw Paw, Parchment, Lake Michigan Catholic and Berrien Springs were third through sixth.
Lakeshore's Andy Lawrick was the winner with a time of 15:52.
Mike Kasper finished 35th to lead Dowagiac with a time of 18:56.6. Evan Bressler was 39th in 19:19.6. Jeromy Northrop, who rushed for 103 yards on eight carries in the Chieftains' victory over Loy Norrix on Friday night, placed 49th on Saturday.
Tony Saviano was 51st with Andrew Howard and Chris Primley finishing 52nd and 66th respectively.
Dowagiac will host the Big 16 Conference West Division jamboree on Wednesday at Southwestern Michigan College. The meet is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.
