The hurricane relief effort sponsored by Cecil Bollinger of Bollinger Construction in conjunction with the City of Dowagiac has been declared a success.
On Thursday, Sept. 9, Bollinger set up a collection trailer in the city parking lot at the corner of Main and Front streets.
On Wednesday, Sept. 15, the trailer left Dowagiac headed for Wachulla, Fla., loaded with non-perishable supplies to aid in the clean-up and recovery effort after recent storms.
Bollinger contacted a pastor in the small town south of Lakeland, Fla., who will coordinate distribution of the much-needed supplies throughout the community.
City Manager Bill Nelson added, "I echo Mr. Bollinger's thanks to our community and, on behalf of this community, I wish to express our appreciation to Mr. Bollinger for facilitating this relief effort."
