Niles tennis swept at home

St. Joseph's tennis team came to Niles on Wednesday and left with an 8-0 sweep of the Vikings.
The Bears put on a dominating performance, winning all eight flights in straight sets.
Niles' No. 1 singles player lost 6-2, 6-2 to the Bears' Cathy Cline. At No. 2 singles, Mallory Zeigert of Niles fell to Alison Roberts 6-2, 6-0.
The Vikings' Nicole Weber lost 6-0, 6-4 to St. Joseph's Robyn Mion at No. 3 singles. Christine Hadley followed with a loss to Kathryn Faris at No. 4 singles, 6-0, 6-2.
The most competitive match of the day for the Vikings came at No. 1 doubles. Niles' team of Heathe Dudka and Nicole Negron hung with St. Joseph's Whitney Johnson and Kylie Cheevers, but fell in the end 6-3, 6-4.
At No. 2 doubles, Samantha Beck and Danielle Lowery lost 6-2, 6-1 to Julia Sender and Meena Davuluri.
Niles' Katie Blaske and Heather Crouteau fell 6-0, 6-3 to the Bears' team of Sophie Christian and Nina Davuluri at No. 3 doubles.
Finally, Mariam Eskander and Jessica Brann lost 6-0, 6-3 at No. 4 doubles to Kelly Calkins and Emily Carlson of St. Joseph.
The Vikings look to rebound from the sweep when they take on Lake Michigan Catholic tonight. The match is a home contest for Niles and is slated to begin at 4 p.m.
