The Dowagiac varsity soccer team had its three-match winning streak come to an end on Thursday in the same town that it started - Edwardsburg.
The host Eddies slipped past the Chieftains 2-1 in a non-conference match.
Edwardsburg took advantage of some sloppy Dowagiac defense in the early stages of the match to score its two goals.
The Eddies played solid defense throughout and only allowed Dowagiac a late second half goal.
Ryan Wenrick opened the scoring just 20 seconds into the match with an assist from Doug Shuttleworth.
The Eddies made it 2-0 less than seven minutes later when Shuttleworth tallied off an assist from Phillip Turner.
The game remained 2-0 until an own goal by the Eddies with 4:35 remaining made it a 2-1 match.
Dowagiac outshot Edwardsburg 11-8.
Cass vs. Brandywine
A late second half goal provided the margin of victory for visiting Brandywine Monday afternoon against the Cassopolis soccer team.
Brandywine's Matt Wieger scored in the 76th minute off an assist from Matt Duckett to give the Bobcats a hard-fought, 1-0, Lakeland Conference victory.
The victory moved Brandywine to 5-3-1. It was the Bobcats' third straight win.
Neither team was able to find the back of the net during the first 40 minutes and it appeared that the match may have been headed to overtime when Wieger scored.
Despite being outshot 27-5 by the visiting Bobcats, the Rangers held their ground throughout the match.
Brandywine's Jake Harris was credited with three saves, while Cassopolis had 15 saves.
The Bobcats travel to Marcellus for a match Wednesday at 5 p.m.
