The Dowagiac varsity soccer team scored a pair of first half goals en route to a 5-1 victory over visiting Buchanan Saturday afternoon.
The Chieftains got first half goals by Andrew Cuthbert and Tony Black to knock off rival Buchanan.
The victory helped Dowagiac rebound from Thursday's loss at Edwardsburg.
The Chieftains (5-2) have won four of the last five matches.
Cuthbert gave Dowagiac the lead with 35 minutes remaining in the first half, while Tony Black scored with 29 minutes remaining in the opening half.
Dowagiac built a 4-0 lead in the second half on goals by Alejandro Hernandez (20:50) and Brian Edgerly (17:00).
Buchanan's Matt Eifler averted the shutout with a goal with 13 minutes remaining.
Edgerly then completed the scoring with eight minutes remaining.
