Eddies top Falcons; tie Chieftains

Fit to be tied.
The visiting Dowagiac varsity tennis team split a non-conference match with host Edwardsburg Thursday afternoon.
The Chieftains swept the singles matches, while the Lady Eddies swept the doubles flights.
Barbara Laing defeated Jackie O'Connor at No. 1 singles, while Lisa Rubino defeated Alia Zander at No. 2 singles.
Ashley Urbanski remained undefeated at No. 3 singles with a win over Kate Gregory. Anne O'Keefe also remained undefeated as she knocked off Stacey Miller at No. 4 singles.
In the doubles matches, Alexa Smith and Amanda McCracken defeated Amelia First and Lindsay Tyler in the first flight, while Chelsie Baucus and Corinne Fleming defeated Taylor Townsend and Calie Daniels in the second flight.
At third doubles, Ally Weir and Bethany Marschke defeated Kim Rutkowski and Kayleigh Sundman.
The Lady Eddies No. 4 doubles team of Lindsey Mettl and Courtney Moyer defeated Ashley Smith and Samantha Harris.
Eddies vs. Constantine
The Edwardsburg tennis team rebounded from its loss to Brandywine and split with Dowagiac to sweep Constantine in a non-conference match on Tuesday.
The Lady Eddies defeated the Lady Falcons, 8-0.
Winning in singles for the Lady Eddies were Jackie O'Connor, Alia Zander, Kate Gregory and Stacey Miller.
In doubles play, the Edwardsburg teams of Alexa Smith/Amanda McCracken, Corinne Fleming/Chelsie Baucus, Bethany Marschke/Ally Weir and Courtney Moyer/Lindsey Mette were also victorious.
