Brandywine blanks Edwardsburg

In its toughest test of the season so far, Brandywine's girls' tennis team beat defending Lakeland Conference champion Edwardsburg 8-0 to stay undefeated.
The victory was Brandywine's third 8-0 sweep in as many days. The Bobcats swept Cass 8-0 on Monday and Niles on Tuesday.
In the closest match of the night, Brandywine's No. 1 singles player Jenny Zellman battled back from losing the first set 6-1 to win sets two and three 7-5, 7-6 over the Eddies' Jackie O'Connor.
No. 2 singles also went three sets, as the Bobcats' Jenny Cowen beat Edwardsburg's Alia Zander 3-6, 6-3, 6-1.
Brandywine's Amy Konopinski beat Edwardsburg's Kate Gregory at No. 3 singles 6-1, 6-3. Amber Valentine of the Bobcats beat Stacey Miller 6-2, 6-1 at No. 4 singles.
Bethany Daniel and Christine Dvorak of Brandywine beat Amanda McCracken and Alexa Smith of Edwardsburg at No. 1 doubles, 6-3, 5-, 6-2.
At No. 2 doubles, Brandywine's Lisa Konopinski and Kristin Peters defeated Edwardsburg's Chelsie Baucus and Corinne Fleming 6-1, 7-5.
Nikki Cooper and Courtnay Schlutt took the victory for Brandywine at No. 3 doubles, beating Edwardsburg's team of Bethany Marschke and Sely Wier, 6-1, 6-2. Ashley Valentine and Jamie Bartuska completed the sweep for Brandywine, beating Courtney Moyer and Lindsey Mette 6-1, 6-2 at No. 4 doubles.
