NILES - Niles Township residents will soon get to the opportunity to voice any concerns they have regarding the new zoning ordinance proposed for the township.
At its meeting Tuesday night, the Niles Township Board set a public hearing for the new zoning ordinance for Sept. 27 at 7 p.m. at the Niles Township Hall, 320 Bell Road.
New zoning maps and information about the proposed ordinance will be available for residents to view at the hearing.
The board also set a public hearing for the paving of Kings Drive West for Sept. 20 at 7 p.m. at the Township Hall.
Also at the meeting, the board approved a cost sharing agreement with M-DOT for the annual maintenance costs of the new traffic light on S. 11th Street at the Lowe's entrance. Niles Township will pay 25 percent and the department of transportation will pay 75 percent of the light's maintenance costs. This agreement will equate to about $192 a year for the township.
