Niles tennis team loses close match at South Haven

Niles' girls' tennis team dropped a 5-3 decision at South Haven on Tuesday after losing two close flights.
South Haven swept the singles' flights, as Niles' Annalee Nelson, Mallory Zeigert and Nicole Weber lost at No. 1, No. 2 and No. 3 singles, respectively.
The fourth singles flight was closer. Christine Hadley of Niles won the first set 6-2, but lost the remaining two sets 6-4, 6-4 to South Haven.
The Vikings used the doubles flights to come back and nearly tie the score, however.
Heather Dudka and Nicole Negron of Niles won in straight sets at No. 1 doubles, as did Samantha Beck and Danielle Lowery at No. 2 doubles.
At No. 3 doubles, the Vikings' Jena Williams and Mariam Eskander shutout South Haven's team, winning 6-0, 6-0.
With the meet on the line, Niles' No. 4 doubles team of Katie Blaske and Heather Croteau won the first set 6-2.
After dropping the second 6-3, it took an extra game for South Haven to win the third set 7-5, and take the overall advantage.
